lesson reflection

Originally Alma and I planned on doing a lesson plan on our digital story "La Llorona", but we decided to do something that we thought the students would enjoy more. We decided that doing a lesson on basic conversational skills in Spanish would be a good thing to teach and not as intimidating for non-Spanish speakers. We both took a care of different parts of the lesson and then put it all together. We then rehearsed the lesson to figure out what parts of the lesson we wanted to teach. We decided that in order to prevent behavioral problems, while one of us was teaching the other would be walking around making sure everyone was doing the things they were supposed to do.
Our learning objectives were:
·        Students will be able to translate Spanish words to English.
·        Students will be able to identify Spanish greetings and farewells.
·        Students will be able to speak a basic Spanish conversation.
·        Students will be able to create a mini Spanish conversation.

Our formative assessment was walking around the classroom during the activities making sure that the students understood everything.
Our summative assessment was the skits that we had the students perform at the end of the class that corresponded with a rubric that we created.

I think that everything we did went as planned except for when I stated writing the answers on the smart board when we were going over the kick me work sheet. In the future I would already have the answers written out, so that it is more legible, and not as time consuming.

Over all I think that our lesson went really well. I was nervous at first, but after getting into the lesson I was more comfortable. I hope that the students learned a few new basic conversational words from our lesson. From this lesson I learned that students are very sneaky and you have to keep your eyes on them at all times.  The only thing that I would have done differently is making the font of the vocabulary list larger so that everyone is able to see it. Alma and d I worked really well together, and I really enjoyed teaching this lesson!

Lesson Reflection

I thought that the lesson went really well. I was very nervous before I started, but once  began I became comfortable. I thought that Alma and I planed the lesson really well, and we worked good together. The only thing that I think we could have done differently was having the students view the vocabulary from the word document, where the font was to small to read. I thought that the skits went well, and I think that most of the students in the class really enjoyed it. I really enjoyed teaching this lesson and surprisingly it was much easier to team teach than I thought.
